There are some weekends at Seven Keys that feel less like booking a show and more like welcoming friends to the mountain.
This Friday and Saturday, we are excited to welcome Rico Gonzalez and Emily Jean Anslover of Kin Faux to Seven Keys Lodge for two nights of music alongside Mark Powell.
And this one comes with a lot of history, friendship and Texas music woven into it.
Rico and Emily are both incredible fiddle players, musicians and entertainers, and anyone who has seen Kin Faux perform knows the kind of energy they bring to a stage. Their musicianship is top-notch, but what makes them especially fun to watch is the way they connect with a crowd. They don’t just play songs — they make a night feel like an experience.
They also come with some serious credentials.
Kin Faux has earned major recognition from the Texas Country Music Association, including Country Band of the Year, Single of the Year for “Wild Horses,” and Entertainer of the Year. Rico has also been recognized among the top fiddlers in Texas, earning TCMA Fiddler of the Year honors, while Emily is a five-time state fiddle champion and continues to be recognized for her incredible musicianship.
As impressive as the awards are, though, what makes this weekend especially meaningful to us is the friendship behind the music.
Mark’s relationship with Rico, Emily and the Kin Faux family has grown through years of sharing stages, shows and the Texas music community. Kin Faux has performed at Outlaws & Legends, making them part of a festival and music family that means so much to us.
Emily’s connection with our family goes even further. She has also shared the stage with Ella Powell at Outlaws & Legends, which makes having her here at Seven Keys feel especially special.
There is something pretty wonderful about watching those relationships continue from Texas all the way to the mountains of Colorado.
This weekend will bring all of that together.
Expect plenty of fiddle, great songs, stories, laughter and those spontaneous moments that happen when talented musicians who genuinely enjoy one another get together on stage.
